The Prepared Environment is a central element of Montessori education and includes the entire school building, learning materials, books, space for experiments, and the garden. Teachers are trained Montessori teachers with AMI or ÖMG diplomas. The school uses mixed-age classes to promote social learning, described as a deliberate 'Big Mix' of Primary 1 and Primary 2. Montessori materials, developed by Maria Montessori and her son Mario, enable hands-on mastery. The pedagogy centers on the child, focusing on independent, holistic development rather than fixed curricula and final tests.
Afterschool runs Monday to Friday from 3:00 PM and Fridays from 1:00 PM, and is open to all interested children, not only AMAVIDA students. Courses include Engineering for Kids, Pottery, Spanish, and Chess, with new private lessons for piano, guitar, ukulele, and accordion in German, Spanish, or English. External experts lead the programs, and some courses are offered in English while others are in German. Music courses (piano, singing, guitar, ukulele, recorder) are offered by various teachers, with other instruments possible upon interest.
