No boarding is offered. After School Care runs every weekday from the end of lessons until 5 PM for children in the preschool class and grades 1–6.
A small, healthy snack is provided daily during After School Care.
The school is governed by a board of directors comprised of parents. The board organizes the Annual General Meeting and the Economic Meeting, where all members elect representatives and vote on the budget for the upcoming year. A Swedish National Agency for Education representative, Jonas Poulsen, sits on the board; the principal and staff representatives are non-voting.
Founded in 1986, Svenska Skolan i Wien is a private Swedish international school in Grinzing, Vienna, offering a Kindergarten, Preschool Class, and Elementary School for children aged 2 to 16. The school delivers a bilingual environment with Swedish and German from early years and adds English as part of language education. Primary Education for grades 1–6 follows the Swedish curriculum, Lgr 22, and since 2012 holds Öffentlichkeitsrecht from the Austrian School Board, authorising legally recognised Schulzeugnisse and smooth transitions to Austrian or international schools. The program blends Swedish curriculum standards with Austrian educational requirements, providing a versatile foundation for future study. Small class sizes and fully qualified teachers support professional development. Digitalisation is embedded with iPads, Chromebooks, and projectors in every class. The Grinzing campus sits in a villa with two gardens, near forests and vineyards, offering outdoor learning, daily after‑school care, and a range of cultural and language activities.
