Primary Education follows the Swedish curriculum, Lgr 22, for grades 1–6 (ages 6–12). Since 2012, the school has Öffentlichkeitsrecht granted by the Austrian School Board, which confirms that instruction meets Austrian standards and authorizes legally recognized report cards. Education takes place in small groups with fully qualified teachers who participate in regular professional development, and students are invited to participate in class and school councils to influence their learning environment and foster a sense of responsibility and community.
The school offers theatre visits and song performances as part of its activities, complemented by excursions such as hiking tours and visits to traditional wine taverns (Heuriger). The Lucia Light Festival is celebrated as part of school traditions. These activities enrich students' artistic experiences and cultural engagement.
Lönneberga is bilingual, with Swedish and German spoken equally, forming the foundation of daily learning. Swedish culture and traditions are woven into daily activities, alongside language learning in Swedish, German, and English. Supplementary Swedish Education is available for children aged 6–16 with one afternoon per week; from grade 6 onward, Swedish studies continue via Sofia Distans with biweekly supervision. The curriculum for supplementary Swedish education abroad follows the Swedish National Agency for Education (Kursplan i svenska för kompletterande undervisning för svenska elever i utlandet).
After School Care runs every weekday from the end of lessons until 5 PM, led by Swedish, German, and English-speaking staff to support language development. Activities blend structured and free play with outdoor activities and imaginative play, while promoting social skills such as listening, collaboration, and responsibility; a small healthy snack is provided daily. Special events include holiday parties, movie days, park excursions, and small group activities such as baking, crafting, movie-making, and large-group games.
Throughout the year we organize events such as theatre visits, song performances, hiking tours, and visits to traditional wine taverns (Heuriger). We also celebrate traditions like the Lucia Light Festival. The Grinzing campus provides a tranquil, green environment, with multilingual staff fostering a safe, warm community.
Students participate in class and school councils to influence their learning environment. Each semester includes development talks between students and their parents to discuss progress and set goals. Student progress is documented through written evaluations and tracked in individualized development plans.
Nutritious meals are provided daily at lunch, with fruit and snacks available during the day. Students have two extended breaks daily and two hours of scheduled physical education weekly. The program also offers after-school activities to promote learning, physical activity, and social engagement beyond regular school hours.
