Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Al-Iman Schools in Bahrain emerged from a philanthropic effort to educate children within an Islamic framework. In 1989 a formal request was submitted to the Ministry of Education to open a private elementary school, and the venture began by renting a residential building in Riffa as the nucleus of the school. The government allocated land in Isa Town for the project, covering about 41,800 square meters. Enrollment and facilities expanded through the 1990s: the first year had 34 boys; by 1993 there were 56 boys and 14 girls, by 1994 133 boys and 34 girls, by 1995 206 boys and 98 girls, and by 1996 274 boys and 141 girls. A girls' building began in 2000/2001, and by 2005 total enrollment reached 890 students (501 boys, 389 girls) with about 135 staff; in 2004 two gymnasiums were completed as part of ongoing expansion.

Community

The school maintains an active events calendar, with news and activities showcased regularly. Notable community activities include STEAM exhibitions such as the earthquake-resistant building project and robotics competitions like VEX IQ Bahrain 2024. Religious and cultural programs are also a key part of the community, including an annual student Umrah trip and celebrations such as Teachers' Day conducted in collaboration with UNESCO and school partners. Parental involvement is evident in events where parents attend ceremonies, including awards and recognition programs.

Parent-Teacher Association

There is no explicitly named PTA page on the site, but parent involvement is visible through active participation in events and the presence of a Parents section in the English site navigation. The UNESCO committee for the Boys section coordinates Teacher's Day celebrations with the Office of Activities and the Social Guidance team, and parents have attended events such as the awards ceremony for the وفاء project. The site notes occasions where parents are invited to school activities and ceremonies, including an awards event in January 2021 where parents were present. A dedicated Parents resource area exists on the English site, indicating ongoing channels for parent information and involvement. While no formal PTA body is publicly described, parent engagement is integrated into school governance and activities through these committees and events.
