The Asian School opened on May 11, 1983 as The Asian Kindergarten, founded by Joseph Thomas with Bahraini partner Ghuloom Ahmed Abbas, starting with 65 students and 3 teachers. It was renamed The Asian School in 1984 and expanded over the years, eventually consolidating on a single Tubli campus in 2015. The school gained recognition up to the primary level in 1989 and was affiliated to CBSE in 1992, with the first Grade 10 batch appearing in 1997. It upgraded to the Senior Secondary level in 2016, expanded facilities in 2019, and earned a 2-GOOD rating from Bahrain's Education and Training Quality Authority in 2024.
The Asian School serves around 4,600 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 on a 10.75-acre Tubli campus. The school emphasizes celebrating culture and talent, as reflected in its branding and activities that highlight culture and artistic achievement. Community events include Founder's Day, Festival Fiesta, and Award Ceremonies. Parents participate in regular PTMs and volunteer for events such as the Transdisciplinary Showcase and Book Week.
The Asian School operates an active Parent-Teacher Association that coordinates parent involvement and supports student well-being. Regular Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) are scheduled, providing a formal channel for parent feedback and school planning. Parents volunteer for major events and programs, including the 42nd Annual Day Celebrations in 2025 and Founder's Day. Cultural and academic showcases such as Book Week and Transdisciplinary Showcases involve parental involvement and volunteer support. A Junior Model United Nations event in 2025 demonstrated student-led initiatives that are supported by the broader school community.
