Founded in Brussels in 1907, the Lycée Français Jean-Monnet is part of the network of French lycées, the world's leading network of schools. Pupils follow the official French curriculum and prepare for the national examinations, namely the DNB and Baccalauréat, recognised worldwide. A pioneer in language teaching, the Lycée proposes modern language instruction for all pupils from the age of two and a half and several international sections. A broad choice of special subjects, languages and options allows all pupils to follow a personalised pathway in line with their individual plans and ambitions.
The LFJM maintains an active school community with projects and events across the primary and secondary levels. Thematic projects cover topics such as sustainable development, artistic education, languages, humanities, sciences and sport. Reports, interviews and podcasts from classes and major high school events are published via Web TV and Web Radio. Actualités feature school-life news and events and opportunities for families to engage.
Two parent associations are present at the Lycée français Jean-Monnet: La FCPE and l'UPE, representing families and serving as interlocutors with the school management. Elections for family representatives are held in October each year, and parent representatives attend class councils to report back on atmosphere, discipline, homework, assessments and orientations. The school also lists an Alumni network (ALFBxl) with more than 3,000 members in 60 countries and ALFM Anciens des Lycées Français du Monde, plus the Lycée français Jean-Monnet Support Foundation which raises financial support from donors.

Pupils can personalise their education through a wide range of pathways and elective subjects, with six modern languages taught from early childhood. The school welcomes 2,650 pupils from over 50 nationalities and provides facilities, including a Centre de Documentation et d'Information (CDI) with 20,000 titles, dining overseen by a dietitian and nurse, and spaces for group work and exhibitions. Cogni'Classe supports learning with neuroscience-informed strategies, and orientation services assist families with higher education planning.
