The QSI International School of Sarajevo was founded in 1997 to serve the international community rebuilding Sarajevo after the 1992–1996 war. It began in a small pink house in central Sarajevo with 10 students and grew to over 40 students by 2000, prompting a move to larger premises in Hotonj. The school later relocated to Vogosca, where enrollment continued to rise and by 2012 reached about 120 students from over 29 countries. In 2010–2011 portable buildings and renovations added facilities, and in 2018 it moved to Alipasina Street 41, a campus of about 4,000 square meters with 22 classrooms, a gym, science labs, a library, and other spaces. The staff grew from 4 in 1997 to 46 in 2023, reflecting continued growth and a long-term commitment to the community.
QSIS serves a diverse community with students from more than 25 nationalities and focuses on 21st-century learning. The PSG organizes educational and social events for QSIS students and the school community and fosters communication between families and the school. CEESA membership provides access to a wide range of regional sporting, academic, and cultural activities, including a Cultural Arts Festival and tournaments across Europe. All parents are encouraged to be actively involved in the PSG.
The PSG's goal is to make the learning environment the best possible place for children. PSG enhances communication among parents and between parents and the school. It organizes educational and social events for QSIS students and the school community. It enriches the regular classroom curriculum and promotes fundraising to obtain items or services the school might not easily obtain. Last year PSG events included Back to School BBQ, Bingo Night, International Night, Teacher/Staff Appreciation Breakfast, and preparations for the Whole School Drama Performance; fundraising supported items for the BBQ, staff meals, and Ski Week subsidies. All parents are encouraged to be actively involved; learn more by emailing leah-jamele@sarajevo.qsi.org.
