History

Broadhurst Primary School (Pty) Ltd was set up as a private company in 1981 and opened in 1982 under the first Headteacher, Mandy Watson. The school was conceived and built by Anglo American Botswana (Services) (Ambot), with debentures issued to private companies in Botswana to fund capital projects. Major founder members included Debswana Diamond Company, Diamond Trading Company Botswana (DTCB) and De Beers Global Sightholders Sales, which guaranteed support at opening and continue their involvement. Broadhurst Primary School is a private, international English-medium school and is a member of the Independent Schools' Association of South Africa (ISASA) and the Conference of Heads of Private Schools of Botswana (CHOPS); it is a Thinking Schools South Africa Network School member and Proudly a Thinking Maps School. From 1982 to 2019 the school expanded from a single building block to additional facilities, including a hall (1987), a computer centre (1989), a library (2002) and a sports pavilion (1999), with staff housing added in 1996; the sixth Head Teacher, Mrs Angela Warwick, started in 2019.

Admissions

1. Application form: The BPS Admission Application Form is downloadable from the Admissions section. It is for Standard Year and Term and requests the child's personal details (name, surname, date of birth, gender, nationality, home language) as well as current school and guardian contact information. A recent passport photograph of the child must be attached, and there is space to note any objection to the admission. The form also collects information about siblings and the parents/guardians. 2. Registration fee and validity: The application is valid only on payment of a registration fee of P250.00 to Broadhurst Primary School (PTY) Ltd and the receipt of an official receipt. The registration fee is non-refundable and does not guarantee admission. The payment must accompany the application. 3. Application validity period: Applications (except for Reception) are valid for three years. If a place is not available after three years, parents must re-apply. If a place is offered, a once-off enrolment fee is payable. 4. Required documents: A birth certificate must be submitted at the time of application. For admission to Standards, other than Reception, a copy of the most recent school report must be provided. The form requires attaching the birth certificate and the previous school report. 5. Transfers and consent: In transfers between schools, Broadhurst reserves the right to contact the other school for relevant information.
