German is taught as DaF (German as a foreign language) from 5th year; the DaF program uses CEFR levels A1, A2 and B1, with the DSD I exam available and DSD II exam available for bilingual track opting for the Brazilian diploma. The DFU (German as mother tongue) approach includes German-language instruction for certain subjects from 5th year, and Abitur is available after an additional year. Portuguese is taught through PaF (Português como Língua Estrangeira) and PFU (Português Aplicado em Disciplinas Específicas); CILP provides an international Portuguese certificate and Portuguese-language certificates are valid in Germany. English begins in G4, offering Cambridge English qualifications up to C1 in upper grades. Spanish is offered as on-site DELE examinations for levels from basic to advanced from 6th grade through Ensino Médio and into Formação Dual.
From early childhood, teaching is bilingual in German and Portuguese, with dedicated language teachers for each. From the 5th year, students follow either the Brazilian curriculum or the German curriculum. The school promotes German as both a heritage language and a foreign language. Bilingual and trilingual instruction is offered with international certifications.
PaF (Português como Língua Estrangeira) offers Portuguese language adaptation for up to two years for newcomers. NIL (Núcleo de Integração das Línguas) coordinates languages (Portuguese, German, English, Spanish and PaF) to support multilingual integration. English begins in G4, with optional English workshops for G3 in Tempo Integral. Spanish is offered as an extracurricular from 6th grade through the end of Ensino Médio, with DELE exams available on site.
Colégio Humboldt – Deutsche Schule São Paulo is a German international school in São Paulo serving students aged 2 to 18. It is officially recognized by Germany as a Deutsche Auslandsschule (DAS) and is part of the global network of German schools abroad. The school offers a bespoke curriculum with two paths: Bilíngue and the International German Curriculum.
