Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Villare provides intellectual, ethical, and socio-emotional development in a welcoming environment created by a multidisciplinary team. A culture of care guides decisions across Cognita schools, ensuring safe learning environments, student well-being, and robust safeguarding and staff training. The Mentor Club and study guidance support students' well-being and academic development. Projects and international experiences foster social-emotional learning, empathy, and resilience.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The school has an accessibility and special needs policy that ensures students with special educational needs have a complete, inclusive school life without limitations. The accessibility plan supports this objective.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

English is taught from the first year as part of a bilingual curriculum. It is developed through projects, experiences, and Cambridge exam preparation. For two consecutive years, Villare students achieved a pass rate above 90% in English proficiency exams. Students are encouraged to participate in international activities, such as the Kangaroo Math Olympiad.

Mental Wellbeing

The culture of care prioritizes respect and a welcoming relationship with families, and supports students' emotional well-being. The Mentor Club and study guidance provide additional support for students' mental health and academic needs. Safeguarding policies protect students' safety and emotional health. The school aims to promote physical and psychological well-being across the student body.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding and educational policies have been implemented since February 2021. The school has a safeguarding committee that operates independently to ensure policy compliance and the protection of students. Policies include child protection, staff conduct, risk assessment, and safety procedures for visits and emergency planning. Additional policies cover access control, internet safety, acceptable use of ICTs, media and social media usage, medication administration, recruitment safety, and accessibility and needs considerations.
