Language learning opportunities and multilingual education

Language Provision

The school has an AEFE language path (Parcours langue AEFE) focused on reinforced language learning from primary school and multilingual education as part of French teaching abroad. The school teaches French as a Foreign Language (FLESCO) in secondary (college and high school); students in secondary are enrolled in regular classes and receive several hours of French-language instruction through the FLESCO course, which is essential for integration into the French system. The progression is monitored by the homeroom teacher, the FLE teacher, and the school administration, emphasizing social integration and engagement with the curriculum. The Lycée Molière offers the BAC international (OIB) option, which values the teaching of Portuguese and the History-Geography of Brazil. The existence of the Brazilian International Section at Lycée Molière enables the Baccalaureate diploma to be validated by three Rio de Janeiro universities: PUC-Rio, ESPM, and FGV.

Lycée Molière is a French international school in Rio de Janeiro, part of the AEFE network and administered by the Brazilian non‑profit SFBE. Founded in 1982, it serves about 880 students from early years through Terminale (ages 2–17). Instruction follows the French Ministry of National Education programs from preschool to the Baccalaureate, with the BFI since 2022, enabling bilingual, trilingual or quadrilingual pathways and an international‑partner project. AEFE supports teaching Portuguese as the host language alongside French, with FLE and PLE for non‑Francophone learners. The school operates on two campuses: the Pereira da Silva site for younger pupils and a newer Flamengo building for lycéens. Facilities include libraries, a theatre, modern science laboratories, a music and arts room, a pedagogical garden, a covered sports court, abundant IT resources and an on‑site restaurant run by a French chef. Extracurriculars feature a student web radio, Lièrmo newspaper, intercultural workshops, the Concordia 2025 festival, and a Book Festival.
