Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

International School Brunei (ISB) began in 1964 as an informal tutorial group founded by Datin Glass. In 1976, it was formally registered as International School (B) Berhad, a not-for-profit private company. The school moved to its original Berakas campus in 1986, officially opened by Princess Masna. In 2015, ISB relocated to its purpose-built Bandar campus in Kg Sungai Hanching. Over the decades, ISB expanded to include a second campus in Seria and launched the Centre for Inclusive Learning in Kuala Belait.

Community

ISB fosters a vibrant, multicultural community comprising over 40 nationalities. The school emphasizes international mindedness, encouraging families to engage in multicultural events and activities that promote global awareness. Events such as International Day and the Borneo Global Issues Conference (BGIC) provide platforms for students and families to celebrate cultural diversity and engage in global discussions.

Parent-Teacher Association

ISB has a formal Parent Teacher Association (PTA) that supports the school through regular collaboration with staff and involvement in events. The PTA plays a role in building community by helping to organise key events such as International Day and school performances. Members of the PTA also assist in welcoming new families, supporting fundraising efforts, and providing volunteer help at school functions. In addition to event support, the PTA contributes feedback through meetings with school leadership and helps strengthen communication between parents and the school
