Miftah An-Nur Islamic International School was founded in 2017 by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Haji Muhammad Ruzaini bin Pengiran Dr Haji Mohd Yakub and his wife, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah. The school is described as Brunei's first of its kind, blending international standards with Bruneian Islamic values. The founders also launched Zahara Charity Foundation as part of their broader educational and charitable ventures in Brunei. In 2023, the school opened a new campus in Sungai Akar, inaugurated in a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on November 5, 2023, with royal involvement. The Sungai Akar campus marks the school's growth and expansion to accommodate a larger student body.
