St. George's School is a Catholic mission school established in 1937. It began in a rented house in Jalan Padang with Fr. Piet de Wit as resident priest. By 1941 a dedicated building at Kumbang Pasang was constructed on land donated by Mr. George Ah Foott, with the resident priest serving as principal. After World War II, the school was re-established under George Newn Ah Foott, with his daughters as teachers, and Fr. Smit named the school St. George's School after its founder and benefactor. The institution expanded in the following decades under successive clergy and lay principals, including Fr. Delaney in 1953, and since 2013 the principal has been Mr. Janidi Jingan.
St. George's School has a multi-cultural community comprising preschoolers, primary and secondary students, with staff dedicated to developing independent learners. On campus, students engage in dynamic classroom dialogue and after-class activities including athletics, theatre, internships or community service, and the school supports a broad range of clubs from A Cappella to Model UN. Community events include cross-school visits and large school-wide activities that involve families, such as the Walkathon and National Day celebrations.
St. George's School maintains a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) to coordinate and promote parent involvement in school life. The PTA page is part of the school's site and has been in place for years, reflecting a formal home–school partnership (Last Updated 2013). Activities and events that involve families include school-wide events such as the Walkathon (2025), Kindergarten Open Day (2025), and various cultural and national celebrations. Parental engagement is also evident in 2026 parent briefings for new pupils and guardians, which emphasise home–school collaboration and communication. The school hosts national-day celebrations and visits with sister schools, scenarios in which the PTA typically plays a coordinating role alongside staff and leadership.
