Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

American Global Prep School (AGPS) was established on October 4, 2016 in partnership with GLOBAL EDUCATION VISION (GEV), a nonprofit organization. Registered with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS) and the Ministry of Commerce as a private school, AGPS operates a dual-curricula model that includes both an international program and the Khmer public general education program. The school was created to deliver an affordable international-style education in Cambodia and to prepare students for post‑graduation challenges through a broad, holistic curriculum. AGPS was founded under the vision of Dr. Harry Hwang, who is identified on the site as headmaster and founder.

Community

AGPS presents a multilingual learning environment with an emphasis on English proficiency and instruction in additional languages such as Spanish and Mandarin. The school publishes regular media for the community, including a weekly AGPS News Desk episode (posted Mondays, Phnom Penh time) and periodic themed media such as an AGPS K-pop News series. Community gatherings and milestone events such as the school's graduation ceremonies are posted on the site and form part of the school's public calendar of activities.

Parent-Teacher Association

The school's parent group is presented as a Parent‑Teacher‑Community Association (PTCA). The PTCA president (H.E. Siphan Phay) describes volunteering to support students and working with parents, teachers and the wider community to improve education at AGPS and beyond. The PTCA message frames the association as a forum for parents and teachers to coordinate support, volunteer efforts and community engagement around student learning and school activities. The president's message also links the PTCA's work to the school's founding vision and to broader goals of preparing students for future leadership roles. The site does not list a detailed recurring event schedule for the PTCA, but the posted message emphasizes ongoing collaboration with school leadership and community members.
