Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Asian Hope International School (AHIS) first opened in January 2010. It has grown to a student body of over 720 students and serves from Early Years through Year 12. The curriculum blends the English National Curriculum with the Cambodian National Curriculum and includes English and Khmer instruction. From Year 10, students prepare for Cambridge IGCSE, national exams are taken in Years 6, 9 and 12, and three graduating classes have completed since founding. The school is led by a diverse international staff and operates in a Christian environment.

Community

AHIS describes its community as a safe, Christian environment where every child is valued. Classes are taught in English and Khmer, blending the English National Curriculum with the Cambodian National Curriculum. Community life centers on school events such as ISSAPP football and school productions that involve families. Parents and families participate in events and meetings, such as parent meetings with the school nurses.

Parent-Teacher Association

AHIS maintains an active parent engagement structure that functions similarly to a PTA, coordinating volunteer involvement and family participation in school life. Regular parent meetings are held, including sessions with school nurses to discuss student health and welfare. Parents volunteer and attend events such as school productions like Shepherd King and athletic events, with families also assisting in planning and logistics. The parent community participates in cross-school activities and social gatherings, reflecting a broader network of families connected to AHIS and related schools. The PTA supports fundraising and capital campaigns for new initiatives, such as the Kingdom Schools project.
