ICS International School supports Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) through its Co-Curricular Activities (CCA), designed to promote personal growth, creativity, leadership, and teamwork. The CCA offers activities across sports, arts, music, technology, debate, and service projects, and encourages all students to participate, contribute, and grow. The CCA program aims to shape students into balanced, self-motivated, and socially responsible individuals prepared for future challenges. Well-being is a central consideration in the school's ethos, with emphasis on nurturing the well-being, growth and development of each student individually. The school's vision emphasizes the development of socially adept and emotionally healthy people.
Remedial classes are available for students from K1 to Year 12 with a maximum of five students per class. The school also operates a Student Support Service (SSS) that provides tutoring in reading, writing and English-language study skills, with sessions starting at 3:10 pm for one hour on weekdays. SSS is delivered by ICS teachers and teaching assistants and is available to full-day Primary students (Year 1–6) with class sizes capped at ten. A school counsellor may handle certain behavioral issues as part of safeguarding and student welfare. Remedial and SSS provisions are described to support students who are falling behind or need additional academic assistance.
In the early years, English as an Additional Language is integrated into the curriculum, with ESL listed as a main subject in Kindergarten. All Kindergarten and Primary classes are taught in English with Khmer studies as an exception, and English language support is reflected in the curriculum (GEP and ESL). The Nursery & Kindergarten curriculum explicitly includes English as a Second Language (ESL) as a core subject. The program is aligned with Singapore and Cambridge frameworks to support bilingual or multilingual learners. ESL provision is an established part of the school's language offerings in the early years.
Wellbeing is a core consideration at ICSIS, with core beliefs explicitly stating the aim of nurturing the well-being, growth and development of each student individually. The Vision highlights emotionally and physically healthy people as a desired outcome for students. Co-Curricular Activities are described as promoting personal growth and social responsibility, which supports students' social and emotional development. The overall emphasis on well-being is reflected throughout school policy and practice to support students' holistic development.
A formal safeguarding framework exists within the School Policies, including a dedicated policy document accessible through the School Policies section. The Code of Conduct notes that a School counsellor may handle misbehavior, reflecting safeguarding and welfare processes. Attendance and safety measures are in place, such as biometric fingerprint scanning for arrival and dismissal, as part of safeguarding and campus security. The school's approach to safeguarding combines policy, welfare support (including the School Counsellor), and preventive measures to protect students.
ICS International School (ICSIS) operates from two campuses in Khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh: the Main Campus at 14, Street 214, and the Calmette Campus at 25A, Street 75 (Corner of Street 80). The school opened in 2005 and is a Cambridge International Centre (KH008). Nursery and Kindergarten programmes follow the Singapore Curriculum and the Cambridge English Teaching Framework, with most instruction delivered in English and Khmer studied as needed. Primary education uses the Cambridge Primary Programme alongside the national curriculum. The Secondary & High School Programme (Grades 7–12) provides a bilingual pathway that combines the Cambridge International Curriculum (Lower Secondary/IGCSE, AS & A Levels) with the MoEYS Cambodian Curriculum to align local graduation requirements with international qualifications. The school emphasizes enquiry-based learning and a broad co-curricular program. The Co-Curricular Activities include Khmer Language and Mandarin Language, plus swimming and other sports. All Kindergarten and Primary classes are taught in English except Khmer studies. Khmer and Mandarin are also offered as languages within the curriculum.
