The school provides a range of extracurricular activities to strengthen, improve, and enrich student life, offering spaces for encounter and complementary experiences in sports, arts, culture and personal development. Learning is fostered through activities that provide genuine engagement, and participation is a student-initiated option that cannot be imposed. Extracurricular activities are a program the School offers to complement students' academic formation and, depending on funding, are divided into Workshops and Academies. All extracurricular activities are regulated and supervised by the School through a corresponding semester plan, designating a coordinator responsible for these activities. Among the benefits of attending Workshops and Academies are improved academic performance, increased self-esteem, better physical and mental health, development of creative thinking, enhanced socialization, and the appropriate use of free time.
The school provides spaces for artistic activities as part of its extracurricular program, within the broader aim of enriching student life. The extracurricular program includes arts-related experiences that contribute to creativity and personal growth.
Cultural activities are included in the extracurricular program to support holistic development and cultural engagement is encouraged as part of student life.
Extracurricular activities are designed to promote socialization and personal initiative through cultural, social, sporting, and other interest-based activities outside regular classes.
Workshops and Academies foster leadership and initiative, providing the impetus and support for students to develop their initiatives in cultural, social, sports, and spiritual spheres.
Participation in extracurricular activities contributes to physical and mental health, self-esteem, creative thinking, and balanced use of time, alongside academic performance and social development.
American British School is a bilingual day school for ages 2 to 18. The early years follow the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC), while Cambridge Primary and Cambridge Secondary guide the core program. The school is coeducational and delivers daily English immersion, with bilingual teachers trained in the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) and a Bilingual Academic Leader coordinating learning, assessment, and professional development. Reading and writing are developed with Phonics and Writer's Workshop in early years, and with Reader's Theater and Book Club in the later grades. After completing the bilingual program in 8th grade, students may participate in a two-week International Exchange in London. Since 2023 a Bilingual Student Summit connects Cognita bilingual schools in Chile, with ESU support. On campus, facilities include Computing and Science Laboratory, Library, Audiovisual Room, classrooms, labs, sports areas, patios, and gardens, with spaces scheduled to align with the program. Extracurriculars include Workshops and Academies, plus leadership and entrepreneurship programs such as Líderes del mañana and Emprendimiento Empresarial.
