Saint Peter's School is a British-style school in Viña del Mar with more than 108 years of uninterrupted existence. Over its history we have had eight headmasters, which has helped preserve the school's traditions. Saint Peter's School was founded in 1918 by Anglican Reverend Charles McDonald Hobley as a boys' boarding school in Villa Alemana, and it was the only school in South America belonging to the Association of Preparatory Schools of England. In 1945, under the leadership of Mr. Douglas R. Wilkins, the school ceased to be Anglican and became Catholic, Apostolic and Roman. In 1953 an annex in Viña del Mar was created, led by Mrs. Mary Cook Hudson. In 1978, after unifying leadership under Mrs. Mary Cook, the school joined the Association of British Schools in Chile (ABSCH). In 2003, Mr. James J. Wilkins Cook became Rector; his leadership supported infrastructure improvements and promoted a holistic and balanced education while preserving the school's values, traditions and history, embodying the motto LABOR OMNIA VINCIT — Work conquers all. In 2025, Mrs. Moira Wilkins Binder became Rector, continuing the legacy of its nine predecessors and maintaining the British traditions that have distinguished the school for more than a century in Chile.
