Introduction

The American School of Puerto Montt is a private, co-educational Catholic school serving PlayGroup through IV Medio. It operates a bespoke curriculum with a strong emphasis on English and forms part of its identity through Formacion Espiritual and Formacion Humana within the Área de Formación. A Virtues program recognises student progress with a Merit Slip and focuses on values such as order, responsibility, respect, honesty and effort. Billing schedule and payment terms

- Matrícula (enrolment): se paga por alumno al formalizar la matrícula; puede pagarse al contado en el momento de la matrícula o en dos cuotas iguales pagaderas en diciembre (días 5 o 20) del año anterior y enero del año lectivo, documentadas mediante cheques u otros medios que se acuerden.

- Colegiatura anual (tuition): las opciones de pago son:
- Pago al contado en 1 cuota hasta el 20 de marzo del año lectivo con un 2% de descuento; o
- Pago en 2 cuotas iguales (20 de marzo y 20 de junio) con 0.5% de descuento; o
- Pago en 10 cuotas mensuales iguales y sucesivas entre febrero y noviembre, con vencimiento el día 5 o 20 de cada mes; la colegiatura anual corresponde a una suma única y se devenga en su totalidad al firmar el contrato.
- En mora se aplican intereses y cargos (interés por mora del 2% mensual más costos de protesto y cobranza).

Boarding fees

- No aplica: el establecimiento funciona como colegio particular de día; no se indican servicios de internado o alojamiento. El transporte escolar es responsabilidad del apoderado.

Other costs and optional fees

- Test de la Universidad de Cambridge (PET, FCE, CAE) para alumnos seleccionados: aprox. US$ 200 (aplica a algunos alumnos de 8° a IV° medio).
- Cuota del Centro de Padres: monto por informar; se cobra en la misma ocasión de la matrícula y debe pagarse directamente al Centro de Padres (efectivo, cheque o comprobante de transferencia según proceda).
- Uniforme escolar: se debe adquirir a costo del apoderado; el uniforme obligatorio (incluida la indumentaria para actividades deportivas, eventos y ceremoniales) no está incluido en los aranceles y se adquiere a través de distribuidores del mercado o los que ponga a disposición el colegio.

- After‑School (programa de cuidado para párvulos 3–5 años): valor semestral 2026 CLP 300,000 para alumnos matriculados en The American School (horario lunes a viernes 13:00–17:30 durante el periodo escolar).

Refund information

- Pagos: la colegiatura anual se devenga en su totalidad al suscribir el Contrato de Servicios Educativos; en general no se devuelven los montos ya percibidos.
- Excepciones de devolución: sólo procede devolución o documentación de cheques por cobrar en casos debidamente documentados y excepcionales, tales como traslado de ciudad (con certificado del empleador o certificado de matrícula en nuevo colegio) o recomendación médica (certificado médico). Para cualquier excepción se requiere carta solicitud firmada y documentación que acredite la causa.
- El pago del examen de admisión no es reembolsable en ningún caso.
- El término del contrato por retiro voluntario no genera devolución de lo pagado salvo en las excepciones indicadas y documentadas formalmente.

- Formas habituales de pago documentadas en los procedimientos: pago al contado, cheques para documentar cuotas, y transferencia electrónica u otros medios que el colegio designe; los plazos y la documentación (cheques u otros comprobantes) deben respetarse según lo pactado en la matrícula y el contrato.
- Incumplimiento: el no pago de una o más cuotas hará exigible la totalidad de la deuda y el colegio podrá aplicar las medidas y acciones de cobranza correspondientes.

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Formación Humana supports character, affectivity, and sexuality within the school's educational project. PASOS is a structured program for students from Kindergarten through IV Medio with weekly sessions in Orientation. PASOS teachers receive training from Universidad Los Andes, and teachers participate in Cambridge and Oxford training and the Red VESS network. PASOS parents have voluntary counseling and workshops at parent meetings. CEIS psychopedagogical batteries monitor development and guide vocational orientation. Bull's test, IPCS, and autoreporte identify aggression, socio-emotional issues, and self-perception.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

CEIS psychopedagogical batteries monitor development and guide vocational orientation. Bull's test screens aggression and bullying dynamics from 2nd grade to II Medio. IPCS screens behavioral and socioemotional issues for children aged 3-5. Autorreporte is an instrument applied to 1st-grade students to understand their self-perception. A psychologist conducts K-1 transitions and supports PASOS.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The school is private, co-educational, English-intensive, and Catholic. The school offers English language instruction and provides a pathway to Cambridge English Qualifications through the Chileno-Británico Institute.
