BASIS International & Bilingual Schools Wuhan opened in the fall of 2023 as the BASIS network's first campus in Hubei province. It launched as part of the BASIS International Schools / BASIS International & Bilingual Schools network, an overseas arm of the BASIS group headquartered in the United States. The campus began operations serving early years through lower secondary (Pre‑K–Grade 9) with plans to expand to a full Pre‑K–12 offering. The school's opening and early communications have emphasized its role within the wider BASIS International & Bilingual Schools expansion across China.
Publicly available materials describe an actively developing school community that includes international faculty, on‑campus and nearby family housing, and regular campus social life for staff and students. The school marks cultural and seasonal occasions — for example Chinese New Year and the Dragon Boat Festival — and established a house system during its first year, alongside a campus library opening and a slate of arts and athletic events. Parents and staff are shown participating in ceremonies and celebrations, and the network's blog and school reports highlight frequent community events during the founding year.
