Georgia School Ningbo traces its origins to Ningbo Zhicheng School, founded in January 1995 in Fenghua, Zhejiang. Zhicheng Primary and Junior School began a new term in September 1996, and in September 1997 Ningbo Zhicheng School was approved to enroll foreign students as a private-run school. The Zhicheng High School Department was founded in September 1998, and plans to move to Jiangbei District began in May 2000, with relocation to Jiangbei in September 2001. In September 2014, the International School of Ningbo (ISN) was established as the international department, with ISN Primary opening on September 9, 2014, and AP authorization following in June 2015. In 2019, Georgia School Ningbo (GSN) was authorized by the Zhejiang Education Bureau and opened on September 2, 2019, marking the transition from ISN to GSN; GSN holds full WASC accreditation (six-year term) and is authorized to offer AP courses and to host PSAT/SAT testing.
Georgia School Ningbo has a diverse, international student body with learners from over 25 countries. The school offers programs that foster student leadership and global engagement, including the Student Leadership Council, Model United Nations, Debate League, Wharton Young Business Leaders Academy, and the National Honor Society. The community engages in regular service and outreach activities through Community Service, such as Walkathons that involve teachers, students, and parent volunteers; recent posts highlight activities like the Involved Global Citizens Walk and annual Walkathons. Georgia Events feature a wide range of cultural and academic activities, including United Nations Day, Meet the Teachers Night, STEM Day, World Around Us, and college fairs, which involve families and students in learning and exploration. These events are publicly shared in the school's Events and Community Service sections, illustrating an active, participatory school culture.
Parent involvement is evident through volunteer participation in events and community service activities, such as the Walkathon, where teachers, students, and parents collaborate, and through family participation in cultural and academic events like International Appreciation Day, Meet the Teachers Night, and college fairs. The Events page maintains a record of these occasions, often noting family and student engagement. While a formal PTA organization is not described in publicly available materials, parent volunteers contribute to multiple school events and support initiatives alongside faculty.
