Hiba Academy Hangzhou (杭州市萧山区惠立学校) opened in 2018 as part of the Wellington (China) Education Group's expansion in China. The school is one of several schools operated under the Wellington (China) Education Group, which traces its origins to Wellington College in the UK. The group uses a multi‑layered governance model (an executive board, a local School Advisory Board and specialist committees) to provide strategic oversight across its schools. That governance framework guides leadership appointments and school‑level strategic decisions at the Hangzhou campus.
The school community is made up of students, families, teachers and staff; parents who enrol a child are invited into the school's parent community (Friends of Wellington). The site's news and "Hiba Voices" pages show regular classroom and extracurricular activity summaries, parent and teacher contributions, and reports on arts, sports and academic events. Seasonal and cultural events (for example, school exhibitions, performances and community service activities) are organised throughout the year with involvement from teachers and parents.
The school's parent organisation is called Friends of Wellington (FoW); every parent is eligible to join and FoW acts as the school's main parent body. FoW has a named committee with roles such as chair, finance officer, secretary, project vice‑chair, charity vice‑chair, communications vice‑chair and a coffee‑morning vice‑chair. Parents are invited to join early in the first term; parent representatives are chosen by volunteer sign‑up and democratic vote, and FoW committee members also serve as members of the school's parent committee to convey parent feedback and priorities to school leaders. The Friends of Wellington coordinates and supports events such as winter gatherings, a summer carnival and the annual meeting, runs fundraising and charity activities, and helps organise educational, cultural and social programmes that connect families, students and staff. FoW also encourages class parent representatives to collect and share classroom‑level views so the school can respond to parent input.
Hiba Academy Hangzhou (杭州市萧山区惠立学校) is the Wellington/Hiba group bilingual campus in Xiaoshan, offering an on-site nursery plus primary and secondary pathways that lead to IGCSE and A‑Level study. The school opened as part of the Wellington/Hiba group in 2018 and is located at 学知路2399号 in Xiaoshan. Teaching combines bilingual (Chinese–English) immersion with the British-style secondary route (IGCSE → A‑Level). The campus operates a boarding provision (students may apply from Year 3) and a pastoral '幸福关怀' programme; a daily school-bus service is also offered for eligible pupils. The nursery publishes an annual保教费 (tuition) of 249,900元/年 on the school's nursery admissions/fees page.
