It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
The school provides two hours of after-school activities (ECA) time daily, enabling students to develop new skills and explore personal interests beyond class work. Preparatory students can choose from self-study support and a range of activities across arts, languages, sports, drama, and music, with tutoring available under teacher supervision to balance academics with exploration. In the middle years, ECA time is evenly allocated between after-school activities and study, while higher grades increase the share of time devoted to after-school academic activities to foster independent learning. The program includes opportunities to participate in academic competitions and events such as Model United Nations, debates, and math contests like the Australian Mathematics Competition and the UK Mathematics Challenge.
Visual arts options include ceramics, printmaking, and textiles, providing a platform for emerging artists to express themselves. The school offers a Music Academy and a range of ensembles, allowing students to explore musical talent and create melodies. Performing arts are supported through activities such as LAMDA and school productions, giving students opportunities to perform on stage. These ECAs foster creativity across visual, performing, and musical arts during the middle years.
Language-oriented ECAs exist as part of the program, including opportunities that develop communication and cultural awareness. The middle school ECAs include Model United Nations, debates, and public speaking clubs, which cultivate language proficiency and cross-cultural skills. Students are exposed to projects and competitions that broaden international perspectives.
Clubs and societies, such as Model United Nations, debate teams, public speaking groups, and the school newspaper, help students develop critical thinking and collaborative skills. The ECA program encourages students to pursue personal interests and build social networks within the school community. Students have the opportunity to lead and participate in peer-supported activities, strengthening teamwork.
Students design and lead their own ECAs, developing leadership, organization, and interpersonal skills. An ECA Coordinator, Mr. Aaron Laver, oversees the program; his background includes experience in sports education, international teaching, and professional qualifications such as a PGCE, a master's in business analytics and management, and FA coaching credentials. The program emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and career-relevant experiences as part of a well-rounded education.
Two hours of ECA time each day supports balanced development and time management. Middle- to upper- school ECAs include sports such as football, basketball, swimming, and water polo to promote physical fitness and teamwork. The program also emphasizes personal growth, confidence, and resilience through a variety of activities and opportunities to try new things.
