Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

The Morgan Rothschild Academy adopts High Scope Curriculum for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, with an English curriculum designed by professors from Harvard and Stanford and a Shanghai Municipal Education Commission–approved Chinese curriculum. The daily schedule follows Plan-Do-Review, enabling children to plan, explore for 30-45 minutes, and reflect on their activities. Teachers use Child Observation Records to monitor progress across social, intellectual, emotional, physical, language and creative development. Math and science lessons are integrated into daily routines, and English reading instruction includes phonics, leveled readers and oral fluency.

Arts and Creative

Arts are integrated into the curriculum through daily music and movement and art appreciation. The program includes dedicated music and art experiences as part of regular learning. The Summer Program Camp Frolic features Art and Music as part of its weekly themes. Field trips and class projects during Camp Frolic support hands-on creativity beyond the classroom.

Cultural and Language

The academy is a bilingual Early Childhood Education program in Shanghai, with 30% of instruction in Chinese and 70% in English, serving about 65 students. The student body includes families from China, Japan, Europe and overseas Chinese communities. A second language component is included in Camp Frolic to reinforce language development. The site provides Simplified Chinese language content and bilingual guidance as part of its program.

Social and Hobbies

The Summer Program Camp Frolic includes activities designed to foster teamwork, such as field trips, class projects and community involvement. Regular arts and music experiences provide opportunities for peer interaction and collaborative creativity beyond the classroom. The program emphasizes social development through group activities during both the academic year and summer sessions.

Community and Service

The Summer Program Camp Frolic includes Community Involvement as a core component, with activities designed to connect students with the local community. Field trips and service-oriented projects support a sense of social responsibility. Experiential learning in outreach contexts extends beyond the classroom through community-focused activities.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

Daily routines emphasize physical development through movement and active play as part of the High Scope approach. Music and movement are integrated into daily activities to support physical and emotional well-being. The Camp Frolic program includes sports, water exploration, field trips, and outdoor activities to promote health and well-being.
