Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Tiny Tots International Pre-School & Kindergarten opened in 1997 in Shanghai as an independent English-language international preschool and kindergarten. It operates as a private stand-alone institution that uses the Sequential Step System curriculum to guide 2- to 6-year-olds and maintains small class sizes taught by native-English-speaking teachers. The school has run campuses in Shanghai for different districts, including a Fuxing Xi Lu campus at 43 West Fuxing Road and a Shanghai Garden Campus at 50 Gumei Road, serving early years in Xuhui and Minhang. In 2025, after about 28 years at its original Wukang Road site, Tiny Tots relocated to a new campus at 280 Wukang Road. It has been recognized as a charter member of the Shanghai International Schools Association.

Community

Tiny Tots maintains a close, family-oriented community with small class sizes and a nurturing, inclusive environment. Time Out Shanghai notes that the school preserves a peaceful, family-focused atmosphere and keeps campuses small to foster a caring and inclusive community. Community events include Love Charity Week, which features an art exhibition, charity sale, sustainable market, pet adoption, and a floating bookshop. The school also runs enrichment programs such as the Sunny Scholar Summer Camp, offering English immersion and varied activities for children. The two Shanghai campuses support families in Xuhui and Minhang, reflecting the school's broad local community reach.

Parent-Teacher Association

Parent involvement is visible through organized community events such as Love Charity Week, which includes an art exhibition, charity sale, sustainable market, pet adoption, and floating bookshop. Another example of parent-family engagement is the Sunny Scholar Summer Camp, which provides English-immersion activities for children. In general, parent participation and volunteers are described through event listings and school communications rather than a standalone PTA structure, with families invited to take part in and support these activities.
