Facilities Overview

The campus sits on a 35,000 square metre site in the Hongqiao District of Tianjin, with construction completed in 2011 for the College's opening. The main teaching building houses the Junior School on the ground floor and the Senior School above, with an adjoining Early Years building; the campus features three courtyards and a 500-seat theatre. The first-floor College Library serves both senior and junior cohorts with Wi‑Fi, e-readers, access to e-books and flexible study spaces, and the drama area includes a black-box theatre. Dining options include a ground-floor cafeteria for around 500 and a V&A café for staff and visitors, with nut-free catering. The sports and outdoor facilities are extensive, including a state-of-the-art Sports Hall, an indoor swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts, a main astroturf football/rugby pitch with an all-weather running track, plus nearby pools and squash courts, while the Early Years building provides a shaded outdoor play area.

On-site facilities include a modern state-of-the-art Sports Hall, an indoor swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts, and a main astroturf football and rugby pitch with an all-weather running track along one touchline. In the immediate vicinity the College also has access to three swimming pools, including a 50-metre option, another sports hall, and tennis and squash courts.

Academic Facilities

Academic facilities include separate Junior and Senior libraries with a central College Library offering Wi‑Fi, e‑readers, and access to e‑books and flexible study spaces. Science laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Biology are located on the top floor. Art and Design Technology rooms are large and well-lit, Music rooms are sound-proofed with nine practice rooms, and most classrooms include interactive whiteboards and full computer facilities.

Extra-Curricular Activities

The campus includes a 500-seat theatre for assemblies and performances and a dedicated black-box drama space with make-up and costume rooms. Music education is supported by sound‑proofed rooms and nine practice spaces. Three internal courtyards, landscaped grounds and an outdoor Early Years play area provide varied outdoor spaces, and the V&A café (open 8am–4pm on weekdays) offers a social space for pupils, staff and visitors.

Wellington College International Tianjin is an all-through British international school established in 2011 on a 35,000 m2 campus in the Hongqiao District of Tianjin. The campus opened in August 2011, following construction that began in September 2009. The College serves pupils aged 2–18 and offers the British curriculum from Early Years through to IGCSE (Years 10–11) and the A Level programme in the International Curriculum Centre. Mandarin is taught as a core subject across the curriculum, with a dedicated Mandarin department, and the Early Years programme combines the British EYFS with Chinese curriculum elements in a bilingual setting. English is used as daily language of communication and instruction, with English as a language of instruction for most subjects and Mandarin taught throughout the school. The school is co-educational and offers boarding for senior pupils. The principal is Yang Yang. The campus features a 500-seat theatre, a state-of-the-art sports hall, libraries, science labs and dedicated arts spaces, and a broad enrichment program including World Scholar's Cup, MUN, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, exchanges and a wide range of cultural, sporting and residential activities.
