China, Wuhan
Let the school know you're thinking of applying — they can share their prerequisites and help you through the process.
It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
Public records and third‑party sources give different start dates for the Wuhan French International School: several references report an opening in September 2008, while a Wuhan government page records an official establishment/approval on June 8, 2015. The school's own website highlights its partnerships (AEFE, CNED, WYIS) and describes years of experience but does not present a single, unambiguous founding date. Governance is carried out by a parents' association that elects a committee annually; the site's “Les acteurs” page records the committee composition following the Ordinary General Assembly of 13 June 2023. Because official approvals and local registrations can differ from earlier operational openings, I recommend asking the school directly for the precise legal founding/approval date if you need a single definitive date.
EFIW presents itself as a small, multilingual school operating on the Wuhan Yangtze International School (WYIS) campus and emphasises a close‑knit community working across French, English and Chinese partnerships. The school publishes regular community posts that describe monthly birthday celebrations, a class mascot journal and larger events such as a Téléthon, showing routine social and cultural activities. Parent testimonials on the site also highlight active parental involvement and a family‑style atmosphere in school life.
The school is administered by an association of parents; each year that association elects at least three members to form the Comité de gestion, which is charged with the school's management and financial oversight. The “Les acteurs” page lists the committee officers following the 13 June 2023 Assembly — President: Freddy Géhin; Trésorier: Jérémy Loste (Vice‑Trésorier: Quentin Dufour); Secrétaire: Jan‑Michael Albina — showing the association's formal structure. The committee's stated mission is to ensure the school's continuity and sound financial management. In practice, the site's news and testimonials indicate parents contribute to events (celebrations, farewells, fundraising activities) and play an active role in daily school life. Contact details and practical information are published on the school website; committee membership and involvement are normally organised through the annual General Assembly.
