Let the school know you're thinking of applying — they can share their prerequisites and help you through the process.
It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
Accreditations and official recognitions shown on the school website:
- Cognia accreditation — Cognia is an international education-quality and improvement organization that evaluates schools against a set of standards and conducts ongoing external review; the school's Cognia accreditation indicates it has met Cognia's standards for organizational quality and student learning.
- Foreign Expat Children's School license (Ministry of Education, People's Republic of China) — the school's history page states that in 2011 it became the first international school in central China to be granted a Foreign Expat Children's School license by China's Ministry of Education; this is the official operating license that permits a school to serve foreign/expatriate children in China.
Note: the website also identifies the school as part of the LifePlus network (an international school group/branding), which is an affiliation rather than an accreditation.
Awards to the school listed on the school website in the past five years (January 1, 2021 through January 1, 2026):
- None found on the school website. I reviewed the school's About page and recent newsletters/news pages (site sections where school-level recognitions or awards would typically be announced) and did not find any entries on the website that describe awards given to the school itself during that five-year period. If you would like, I can extend the search beyond the school's site (for example, local education bureau announcements or external news articles).
Wuhan Yangtze International School (WYIS) is an English-medium Pre K–12 international school that began in 2003 and moved to its current campus at 10–1 Boxue Road in the Hanyang / Wuhan International Educational Center area in 2014. WYIS highlights applied-technology learning (award-winning middle/high school robotics, Makerspace and AP Computer Science), regular Chinese-language programmes and school-wide Chinese learning events, and a variety of electives and after-school activities including music, drama and Model United Nations. The site lists an average class size of 17 and states the school serves over 260 students; the admissions pages give entry guidance (ECC/Foundation entry from age 3) and the 2025–26 published tuition ranges from RMB 86,000 to RMB 219,000.
