American School, formerly Preescolar del Norte, was created to make education a different practice, rooted in understanding the structures of thinking and regulation of the human being to develop a healthy personality across thinking, feeling, and doing, with guidelines aligned to each learner's needs and respect for differences. It was initially located at Carrera 55 No. 82-161, Barranquilla, and began operations in a house in the Alto Prado neighborhood after a feasibility study to identify the needs of families with preschool-aged children. The school defined its objectives, methodologies, and knowledge areas to form the core curriculum, and the first students were neighbors from the preschool aged 1 to 6. Today, American School is a private multilingual institution offering Spanish-English-French-Italian-German. It maintains external institutional agreements with UNINORTE for German, Ponte Italiano for Italian, and Alliance Française for French.
