English is the language of instruction for most subjects, following the National Curriculum of England. Greek is taught in ability-grouped classes at Advanced, Intermediate or Elementary level, with options including GCSE Greek Language or the Certification of the Knowledge of the Greek Language at A2 or B2 levels. All students also study French, Spanish or German as additional foreign languages; at Key Stage 3, students may take an external A1 language exam in the language of their choice. The school is certified by the Ministry of Education and Culture and awards the Cypriot Apolytirion (Certificate of Completion of Secondary Education).
The American Academy Nicosia is a private English-language school on a single campus in Ayios Andreas, serving ages 3 to 18. It provides Pre-School, Primary and Secondary education and follows the English National Curriculum, offering Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge A Levels and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE. The school is certified by the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture and accredited by the Middle States Association (MSA); it also grants the Cypriot Apolytirion certificate on completion of secondary education. In Primary, Literacy uses the Oxford International Primary Literacy Curriculum and Maths uses Power Maths by Pearson. Greek is taught with foreign languages including French, Spanish or German.
