Academic and Intellectual

The English School offers 75+ extracurricular clubs and societies, including robotics and debate. Model United Nations is a flagship activity; MedMUN was founded by The English School in 2005 as the Mediterranean THIMUN-affiliated conference. Inter-house competitions total 30+ each year, promoting teamwork and school spirit. In 2024, students earned 20+ national and international awards across disciplines.

Arts and Creative

Drama and theatre are available as part of the Extra-Curricular and Skills offerings. Music Choir/Orchestra is provided as an Arts-related activity. Arts and crafts such as painting or pottery are listed as Skills activities. The campus includes creative spaces that support artistic projects and performances.

Cultural and Language

Mediterranean Model United Nations (MEDIMUN) is hosted by The English School and was founded in 2005 as the Mediterranean THIMUN-affiliated conference. Greek Debate, English Junior Debate, and Greek Creative Writing are available, with EYP programmes also offered as part of the extracurricular repertoire. These activities promote language development, critical thinking and cross-cultural understanding.

Social and Hobbies

Senior Debating Society has promoted public speaking for more than 25 years, with participation in international championships including the World Independent Debating and Public Speaking Championship. The Extra-Curricular Activities booklet lists clubs such as Art Community Club and Debate Club (Junior) among many others. Inter-house competitions and school sports foster social life and community spirit.

Community and Service

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award includes Physical Recreation, Skills and Voluntary Service sections, with service activities such as charity work and volunteering listed with organisations including Caritas Cyprus and the Red Cross. Participants log activities using the Online Record Book under the supervision of an Award Leader who guides registration and evidence collection. Chain of Change is a school-based service project within the Award framework.

Leadership and Professional

Mediterranean Model United Nations develops leadership and global citizenship through conference participation and expert lectures. The Duke of Edinburgh's Award fosters leadership through planning, recording and assessment across its sections, with Award Leaders guiding participants. Debating and Model United Nations activities provide opportunities to lead teams and represent the school internationally.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

Sports and physical activities form a core part of student life, including Athletics, Basketball, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Choreography, Fitness, Football, Futsal, Hockey, Running, Table Tennis, Tennis and Volleyball. Inter-house competitions and regular events promote fitness and wellbeing. Adventurous Journeys in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award promote outdoor activity, navigation and resilience.

The English School, Nicosia is an independent private day school in Cyprus delivering the British Curriculum (Pearson Edexcel IGCSE) for ages 11–18. Founded in 1900 and co‑educational since 1962, the school sits on a 10‑acre campus in Nicosia with a historic Main Building (1938), a Sports Centre added in 1990, and a Science Building (2004) that houses science and ICT laboratories, a Library Resource Centre and a Lecture Theatre. It follows the English National Curriculum: Years 1–3 provide a broad foundation across English, Greek/Turkish, Mathematics, Sciences, Humanities, ICT, Drama, Art, Music, a Modern European Language, PSHCE, and weekly Games; Years 4–5 start the IGCSE with core subjects plus electives; Years 6–7 pursue A‑levels. The TLC supports teaching and learning; the school is inclusive of students with SEND and those who are gifted. Facilities include 22 departments, 75+ clubs, a refurbished Athletics Track (2022), a redesigned football pitch, two outdoor basketball courts, and a well‑equipped gym. Notable features include MedMUN, Be the Change with the Duke of Edinburgh Award and ECO Warriors, and a 125‑year history celebrated in 2025.
