The G C School of Careers was established in 1973 as a private English secondary school. Stelios Hadjipetris was the first Director, and his wife Maria Hadjipetri supported the school. After his death in October 2001, Emilios Hadjipetris became General Director. Since 1974 the school has been located at 96 Steliou Hadjipetri Street in Strovolos, with laboratories, a library, Art & Design Rooms, an Auditorium, sports grounds and a multipurpose cafeteria; in 2015 the School Management introduced The GCS Mathematics School and The GCS Sports School.
The school provides pre-school, primary and secondary education. The School Events Committee, GCS Clubs and Departments organize numerous events throughout the year, including lectures, presentations, fairs, seminars and expeditions that engage students beyond the classroom. Annual events include The GCS Barbecue (a fundraising night organized by Form 7 and the Parents Association), The GCS Christmas Bazaar, the DIY Christmas Show, Starry Night, Fancy Dress Day/Tsiknopempti, GCS & Founder's Day, Play Production and End-of-Year events. School Celebrations include Independence Day Anniversary Commendation, 28th October Anniversary Celebration, Christmas Celebration, 25th March Anniversary Celebration and E.O.K.A. Uprising Anniversary Celebration.
The Parents Association participates in school life and fundraising activities. The GCS Barbecue is a fundraising night organized early in the year by Form 7 students and the Parents Association. The GCS Christmas Bazaar is another fundraising activity involving parents and Form groups. The DIY Christmas Show is staged by Form 7 students with parental support. End-of-Year events and Graduation ceremonies also involve families and the wider school community.
The G C School of Careers is a long‑standing private English secondary school in Strovolos, Cyprus, established in 1973. It offers a Pearson Edexcel IGCSE programme with progression to A‑levels in Forms 6–7 and the School Apolytirion diploma, recognised by the Ministry of Education and Culture, foreign academic institutions and local employers. In Lower School (Forms 1–3), students study English Language, Modern Greek, Mathematics, History, General Science, Geography, ICT, Art & Design, Music, Religious Studies, Physical Education and French (Forms 2–3). Non‑native Greek speakers undertake Modern Greek for Beginners. Forms 4–5 include seven IGCSE subjects with English First Language and Mathematics compulsory, plus options such as Art & Design, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, English Literature, French, Geography, History and Physics. Forms 6–7 require four A‑levels from a broad list. The campus features laboratories, five Computer Labs, a library, an Auditorium, Art & Design rooms and a sports complex, plus The GCS Mathematics School and The GCS Sports School. The school is an Edexcel and ECDL training centre and offers extensive co‑curriculars.
