Uniform Requirement

The school has a uniform with daily, sports and swimming sets plus other uniforms. Hair for boys must be kept short, above the earlobe and not beyond the collar; entry with unshaven face, makeup, extravagant hair dyes or ostentatious accessories is not permitted. Piercings and tattoos are strictly prohibited.

Food Options

The school has its own kitchen that prepares meals in-house, tailored to each age and supervised by the Medical Department. Meals are based on a healthy, balanced diet with daily vegetables, dairy and fruits; older students can choose between main courses and a Salad Bar, while younger children receive afternoon snacks. Menus can be adapted for allergies, intolerances or medical prescriptions as supervised by the Medical Department.

Governance and Ownership

The school is part of the SEK International Institution, which operates with management independence from the old SEK schools in Madrid.

SEK Las Américas is an international school in Santo Domingo serving students aged 3 to 18 with a bespoke curriculum that blends English and Spanish from the earliest years. In preschool, children follow Playgroup plans that foster physical, intellectual, social and moral development, while elementary education builds basic procedures and literacy, with bilingual language development integrated across the curriculum. In middle and high school, learning emphasizes meaningful projects, interdisciplinarity, and the use of technology, guided by core values and a commitment to multicultural understanding and self-directed inquiry. The campus features a Library and Virtual Room for research, an in-house dining service with options, a Medical Department, and bus transport. Technology is embedded across classrooms, with programming/robotics labs, Dell devices, LEGO, a 3D printer, VR, iPads, and Google Classroom. Extracurriculars include robotics, music and dance, debate, and sports. The school offers English and French certifications and Student Council and Alumni Club.
