The Lycée Français de Saint-Domingue is a true gateway to the Caribbean and has played a fundamental role in the history of the Dominican Republic. Since its opening in 1978, it has established itself as a cultural and educational bridge, strengthening ties between Santo Domingo and Paris. The school is more than just a school; it is a place of exchange, diversity and sharing, where universal values and a living Francophonie are cultivated in the heart of the Caribbean. As an AEFE-contracted establishment, the Lycée Français de Saint-Domingue guarantees multilingual, high-quality education based on the programs of the French National Education while incorporating instruction in the history of the Dominican Republic. This space blends tradition and emancipation, and is deeply rooted in humanist values: democracy, inclusion, and living together.
Participatory democracy and sustainable development: Students are involved in the life of the school through participatory bodies and are engaged in sustainable development through the eco-delegates club. Destination Francophonie on TV5 Monde has featured LFSD, illustrating the school's francophone and cultural initiatives. The school also highlights its alumni through testimonials and alumni spotlights, showing the diverse paths graduates take. The LFSD emphasizes exchange and openness between French and Dominican cultures at the heart of its community.
LFSD governance centers on collaborative structures that involve parents through multiple bodies. The Conseil d'administration et de Gestion (CAG) administers the school's finances and operations, and employs locally recruited staff; it comprises seven voting members and four advisory members, including the Embassy's Cooperation and Action Cultural Counselor, the Proviseur, the Directrice Administrative et Financière, and the Founder and Honorary President. Contact representatives at cag@lfsd.edu.do. The Conseil d'école, established under the School Director, provides opinions on the internal regulations and the school project; it has 15 parent representatives elected each year and all teachers are members by right. The Conseil d'établissement handles pedagogical and educational questions for the entire establishment and is renewed annually; it includes staff representatives and user representatives (parents and pupils), with invited participants such as two Board members, the Consul of France, and Consular Councillors. Minutes of the councils are published, with records for 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 available.
