Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

New Horizons Bilingual School guides students to discover their passions, promoting not only academic excellence but also the maximum social and emotional development of our students. The school has a highly qualified staff for all areas that improve the academic, athletic and socio-emotional development of our students. High-Quality Learning balances the voices of students with the guidance of teachers, fostering a positive environment for social-emotional well-being and academic growth. The school emphasizes socio-emotional development as part of its approach to learning.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The school recognises that some students may have special educational needs or disability and will adapt accordingly.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The school offers a bilingual education with a dual program from Early Childhood until High School; instruction is in English and Spanish, helping students achieve fluency in both languages. The High School program is developed in a fully bilingual modality, in English and Spanish, through which our students achieve a high level of fluency in both languages.

Mental Wellbeing

High-Quality Learning balances the voices of students with the guidance of teachers, fostering a positive environment for social-emotional well-being and academic growth.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding follows the ISP Group Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy; the welfare of the child is paramount, safeguarding is the responsibility of all staff, and there is a designated Safeguarding Lead (with deputies). Staff receive safeguarding training and must report concerns using established procedures, including online safety and collaboration with families and authorities.

New Horizons Bilingual School is a private bilingual international school in the Dominican Republic, serving ages from 0 to 18 across two campuses, Santo Domingo and Santiago. Founded in 1977, it offers a continuous English–Spanish bilingual program from preschool through Bachillerato, with instruction delivered in both languages and a bilingual Bachillerato. The Early Childhood program emphasizes holistic development through purposeful learning experiences; Primary focuses on relationships, community involvement, and empowerment; Middle School aims for academic excellence while cultivating critical, innovative, independent, and ethically guided students; High School provides AP courses under College Board guidelines, with AP credits recognized by universities in more than 100 countries. The school is part of the International Schools Partnership, expanding opportunities. Facilities support a sports program—badminton, volleyball, basketball, chess, football, rhythmic and artistic gymnastics—and Esports. A wide array of clubs, including Debate, MUN, Math, Robotics, Arts, and Eco initiatives, enriches learning across both campuses extensively.
