Dar El Tarbiah was founded in 1958 by Dr. Nawal El Degwi. It is the first English-language instruction medium institution established by Egyptians. It was licensed as a British system school in 1990 and as an American system school in 1991. The school offers IGCSE and American Diploma programs and maintains a strong affiliation with MSA University.
The school fosters a vibrant community with a calendar of events across Cairo and beyond. Student life includes activities, trips, sports, performing arts & drama, and community services. Dar El Tarbiah IGCSE Schools have four regular parents' meetings after each quarter exam. From time to time, parents may be invited to one-on-one counseling sessions concerning their child, with notice by written request and phone. Parents should feel free to call the school to arrange an appointment. Teachers are available five days a week from 12:00 to 12:30 to meet with parents, and there are dedicated meetings for parents of weaker students to discuss support strategies.
Dar El Tarbiah IGCSE Zamalek is part of the Dar El Tarbiah Schools network in Egypt and offers a British pathway through Cambridge IGCSE, Edexcel Certificate, and AQA examinations for 14–16 year olds. Instruction is mainly in English with Arabic support, and the curriculum includes Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Languages, Humanities and Social Studies, Computer and Technology, Creative Arts, Physical Education and Life Skills. The school operates within the Cambridge International Examinations framework and maintains a strong affiliation with MSA University. Facilities include a clinic with nurses, air conditioned classrooms with internet, a resource department, a Primary Art Suite, and dedicated music rooms. A separate theatre and drama studio seats about 250; the library has about 3,000 books and is computerized. Science labs and ICT labs support practical learning, with a one computer per child policy. Extracurriculars span arts, drama, science fairs, trips, sports and community service, with sports days.
