How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school provides a broad and balanced academic and social curriculum. The Learning Support and SEN Department includes school psychologists and a school counselor, delivering individualized programs through a multi-disciplinary team. The department aims to nurture self-esteem and confidence and to encourage good manners, behaviour, respect and tolerance. Interventions include Social Skills Programmes as part of pupil development. The school emphasizes a close partnership with parents and other professionals to support each child in a happy, caring and secure environment.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Egypt British International School has a Learning Support and SEN Department led by Yara El-Tagoury, Head of Learning Support and SEN Department. The team includes a Support Coordinator, SEN Coordinator, academic support teachers, SEN support teachers, school psychologists and a school counselor. Areas of Need include cognition and learning; behavioural, social and emotional difficulties; speech, language and communication difficulties; sensory and/or physical needs; and specific learning needs including being gifted and talented. The department offers intervention programmes such as National Curriculum Reinforcement, Read Write Inc. (general/intensive), Fresh Start Programme, Shine Programme, in-class support, and social skills programmes. The National Curriculum is adapted to meet individual needs and all pupils on the support register receive a highly differentiated curriculum; the aims include fostering a happy, secure environment and close partnership with parents and other professionals.

Mental Wellbeing

Mental wellbeing is supported by access to School Psychologists and a School Counselor. The school aims to nurture self-esteem and confidence and to create a happy, caring and secure environment. There is an emphasis on positive behaviour, respect and tolerance of others. A multi-disciplinary approach to pupil well-being is fostered, with partnerships between Parents and other professionals to support individual development.

Egypt British International School (EBIS) sits within the International Schools Campus alongside another on-site campus, educating about 4,000 students from nursery to Year 12 across two campuses. EBIS follows the British National Curriculum with an international perspective and a strong emphasis on culture and heritage. The school prepares learners for EdExcel and Cambridge International Examinations; IGCSE results are used as international benchmarks, alongside England's standardised tests at Years 2 and 6.
