Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

The school is located in El Gouna on the Red Sea, about 25 km from Hurghada International Airport and a four-hour drive from Cairo. The International British Section was established in 2006, offering a British standard education from EYFS to AS/A Levels and leading to International GCSEs. The National Language School Section has operated since 1998. The two sections operate independently under one umbrella and join together for morning assemblies, major events and co-curricular activities. The school is accredited by the Ministry of Education, is a member of the British Schools in the Middle East (BSME) and the Council of British International Schools (COBIS), and is an approved examination center for Cambridge (CAIE) and Edexcel (Pearson) through the British Council.

Community

EGIS has a vibrant international community with more than 24 nationalities represented in its student population. Pupils, staff and parents support the school and its students in many ways and participate in community life and charitable activities. Community involvement in school life strengthens partnerships within the El Gouna and Red Sea communities.

Parent-Teacher Association

Parents are encouraged to take an active role as partners in the education of our children. They assist in the provision of resources for the school and in the promotion of and involvement in activities and events to support EGIS' curriculum, co-curriculum and the local community. The school invites everyone to foster the community spirit within EGIS, including the El Gouna and Red Sea communities, with other parents, teachers, students and alumni.
