Wellbeing and social‑emotional development are central to GEMS BISM. The Wellness Program creates a safe, happy, and empowering environment for students. It aims to promote social health and emotional wellbeing for all learners, with a supportive and positive pastoral team. The school believes that happy students learn better and engage more meaningfully with their learning. A strong partnership between parents and the school supports every learner's development, and the pastoral team is available to discuss concerns or feedback.
The safeguarding and pastoral structures include a focus on learning differences. The Safeguarding Team lists a Deputy Head of LDD and a Head of LSAs to coordinate Learning Support, with Learning Support Assistants providing ongoing support for students who need additional help. The school emphasises inclusive practice and tailored support for diverse learners through its safeguarding and pastoral teams.
The Pastoral and Wellbeing Program prioritises mental health and emotional wellbeing for all students. The pastoral team provides care and support, with staff who are positive, caring, and attentive to each student's contributions. The program recognises that individuals may face challenges and that the school community shares responsibility to support them through difficult times. The Pastoral team is available to students, staff, and parents for concerns, suggestions, or feedback. The program aims to ensure students feel safe, welcomed, and engaged, contributing to their mental wellbeing.
Safeguarding at GEMS BISM is guided by the Safeguarding Policy framework (GEMS Safeguarding Policy and EEP Safeguarding Policy). All staff and volunteers receive appropriate training and support in safeguarding and child protection, with designated safeguarding leads responsible for safeguarding matters. A parent‑friendly safeguarding leaflet is provided, and the policy is available and reviewed annually, with ongoing oversight of safeguarding matters by GEMS.
