The Personal Development Curriculum includes Physical Health and Nutrition, Emotional Wellbeing, Morals, Relationships, Living in the Wider World, The Environment, and Community Serving. It aims to promote the educational, personal, and social development of all students and to help them become independent, responsible learners. The programme fosters self-respect, respect for others, and high personal standards, and gives students increasingly responsible roles within the school. It teaches students how to learn, challenges and supports them, and rewards positive attitudes and behaviour. It encourages students to help others, develop positive relationships, and make a positive contribution to their environment and community.
English is taught as a first language. A second language is introduced from Year 1, with options including French or German, in addition to English and Arabic. English as a second language is offered as a field of study alongside other languages. The school provides opportunities to study DELF diplomas in French, as part of its language offerings. Fields of Study include English as a Second Language, English Literature, First Language Arabic, and Foreign Languages (German & French).
Emotional wellbeing is part of the Personal Development Curriculum, alongside the broader aim of supporting students' mental and emotional health. The curriculum covers aspects such as physical health, nutrition, morals, relationships, and social development to foster wellbeing. MIS treats safeguarding as a core responsibility and provides a safeguarding statement that outlines the protection and welfare of all students. Age-appropriate safeguarding sessions are delivered to help prevent abuse, and the school works in partnership with local authorities and the British Council to maintain a safe environment. The policies emphasise a duty of care for all users of the school and set expectations for respectful conduct to support safeguarding. Manchester International School (MIS) offers a British international education in Egypt for ages 3 to 18. The curriculum follows the English National Curriculum with Cambridge Pathway (CAIE) and Pearson Edexcel IGCSEs, from EYFS to Year 12. Cambridge Primary is used for Years 1–6 alongside the National Curriculum; progression continues through lower and upper secondary leading to Cambridge IGCSEs and A/AS Levels. The school is accredited by Cambridge Assessment International Education and Pearson Edexcel and is a British Council Attached Centre; native English-speaking teachers are employed across year groups. Facilities include dedicated spaces for art, music and theatre, and two indoor heated pools supporting a broad sports program.
