Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Metropolitan School was founded by a family with over 70 years of private-education experience in Egypt. The late Mr. Fouad Habib started one of the country's first private schools in 1954, laying the foundation for a legacy of educational excellence. His contributions were recognized by presidents of Egypt, including being honored by President Gamal Abdel Nasser in 1956 and receiving the Pioneer of Private Education Badge of Honor from President Anwar El-Sadat in 1979. Carrying forward the family's mission, Dr. Sameh Fouad Habib modernized the curriculum in 1983 by incorporating technology and management information systems and represented private schools in ministry discussions for more than two decades. Metropolitan School opened in 2015 under Mr. Seif Sameh Habib, introducing Egypt's first entrepreneurship program within a school setting, aligning the program with Common Core standards integrated into the American curriculum from KG1, and developed with Dubai-based consultancy BBD Education to meet high global standards.

Community

Metropolitan School delivers an outstanding international education rooted in Egyptian values, and its mission is to inspire a generation of engaged thinkers while ensuring Egyptian values remain central to school life. The school aims to foster a diverse, supportive community that encourages students to contribute to local and global communities, with community service opportunities forming a key part of student life. Its pillars emphasize Happy Learning, Innovative Aspirations, and Sustainable Futures, guiding behavior and school life and further supporting a dynamic, values-driven community.

Parent-Teacher Association

Parent involvement is formalized through the MET/Parent Partnership documented in the Student-Parent Handbook. The partnership defines the expectations for parents, students, and the school, including a Home School Partnership Agreement and structured parent communication. Parents are encouraged to model the Met Pillars, participate in regular communications and conferences, and collaborate with teachers to support student progress. Communication methods include parent orientations, Parent/Teacher Conferences, Student-Led Conferences, email, and the Rediker/ParentPlus portal (with guidance on the appropriate channels for parent-teacher interactions).
