Admissions

How to apply, waitlist information, and financial support

Admissions Process

The school has an admissions process in which applications are considered in order of receipt. Priority is given to children with a good level of English, to siblings already studying at The Continental School of Cairo, and to ex-pupils of CSC. A formal completed application form is required. Parents are interviewed with the child by the school Principal by prior appointment. The child is assessed by specialist staff as appropriate. Entry is based on assessment results and place availability. No place can be reserved without payment of the registration fees. If a place is not immediately available, the child's name is placed on a waiting list. A formal acceptance letter is issued and parents are advised of the entry date. School fees are payable before enrollment. Foundation, Reception KG1 & KG2 join the Early Years department in October of the year that children are 3.6 years old; British and National streams are available for enrollment. An appointment is made for parents to visit the school and for the child to take an Early Years entry assessment. A place is offered subject to satisfactory evaluation. Children applying for KG1 & Foundation Stage are not required to have prior knowledge of English but preference is given to those who do. Primary and Senior Schools (CIS & CLS) require a good command of spoken and written English, with previous school reports indicating passing grades in addition to passing the school entry assessment in English, Maths and Arabic. Students who have transferred from a school abroad do not have to sit for the Arabic assessment. Official documentation for registration includes: a complete application form; birth certificate; a copy of parents' ID; a Medical form (from the school's Medical Doctor); four recent photos of the student; previous school records if transferring from another school and transfer eligibility document authenticated by the Local Educational Authority; students coming from abroad will be advised of the requirement by the admissions office. The schools are The Continental International School (CIS), The Continental Language School (CLS), and The Continental School of Cairo (CSC).

The Continental School of Cairo operates a three‑school campus on one site, comprising CIS (a British international school), CLS (an Egyptian National Curriculum school taught in English), and CSC (a British Special Education school). It serves pupils aged 4 to 17, with approximately 1,000 students across the three schools. The English‑medium curriculum follows the British National Curriculum, with core subjects English, Mathematics and Science and additional subjects including Arabic, History-Geography, Music, Computer Studies, Art and Craft, and Physical Education. Cambridge Secondary, Cambridge IGCSE, and Pearson BTEC Vocational qualifications are offered for older students. The school is licensed by the Egyptian Ministry of Education and authorized by UCLES to prepare students for IGCSE examinations. The campus features custom‑built classrooms with displays of student work, a dedicated Lower School Library, a health centre with a full‑time doctor, outdoor play areas and a shallow pool for younger students. Sports facilities include a football court, basketball and volleyball courts, and a swimming pool; teams compete regionally. An Autism Unit with tailored programmes and therapies supports diverse learners, and each student receives an Individual Learning Plan after a six‑week observation, discussed with parents.
