Boarding, Uniform and Food

Daily life details and school culture

Boarding Arrangements

The school has 27 on-campus apartments for staff; some staff live off-campus in the community. Housing is allocated based on role within the school, length of term served, individual and family needs, and teaching loads; campus allocations are confirmed at the end of May and specific apartment allocations are not confirmed until arrival. If off-campus housing is required, the academy covers rental costs, utilities, and transport subsidies (some limits apply).

Uniform Requirement

A dress code applies to all students; athletic uniforms are issued for students in Grades 6-12 who participate in physical education and interschool sports. BA athletic gear must be worn during physical education classes and interschool competitions. There is a fines policy for lost, damaged, or late-returned athletic uniforms. The general dress code requires modest, neat clothing, with specific guidelines for field trips and events.

Food Options

BA provides healthy food and snacks during school hours, including fruits and vegetables daily with lunches and efforts to incorporate cheese and yogurt into baked goods.

House System

The school is divided into three houses for athletics and events, named Carey, Scott and Taylor; every student and staff member belongs to a house for the duration of their time at Bingham and participates in house-based activities.

Governance and Ownership

The school is governed by the Bingham Academy Board; Ends statements guide long-term planning, including a Five-Year Strategic Plan and a Continuous School Improvement Plan. The school operates at a cost acceptable to the owner and sustaining missions. The academy is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International and Middle States Association, affiliated with the Association of International Schools in Africa, and uses the Cambridge International Examinations Curriculum.
