The idea for Reach International Center of Education (RICE) emerged in early 2012 from two sparks: a demand for academically rigorous education grounded in Christian values and the desire to encourage Ethiopians living abroad to return home. In 2013, after challenges, the founders secured a facility and began work; by August 2014 the building was ready and the Ministry of Education license and business license were issued, and RICE opened with 33 children. RICE expanded to a second campus, Agona, serving Year 7 to Year 13, while Meskel Flower campus serves Year 1 to Year 6. In February 2017, RICE became a registered Cambridge International School offering Cambridge Primary and Secondary 1; in October 2022, the High School was Cambridge International accredited, making RICE a fully Cambridge international school. The school currently operates Year 1 to Year 13 on two campuses, Meskel Flower (Year 1-6) and Agona (Year 7-13).
RICE describes its community as a place where curiosity and lifelong skills are developed, with emphasis on character and learning through Cambridge. The school runs a yearly Science Fair and engages in various community activities as part of its educational program. These activities, alongside classroom learning, aim to inspire students to dream big and achieve more.
