The Deutsche Schule Athen is operated by the Deutscher Schulverein Athens, a registered association. It provides the structural, financial, and staffing framework for implementing the school's goals, while pedagogical leadership is the responsibility of the school head. The board, composed of nine ordinary members, oversees governance and strategy, with committees for Finance, Building, Personnel, School Sponsorship/Marketing, and Tuition Reduction, and advisory representation from the German Embassy.
Deutsche Schule Athen (DSA) is a German overseas school in Athens, founded in 1896. It serves students from ages 3 to 18, offering Kindergarten through Sekundarstufe II, with a final DIA qualification that enables access to higher education in Germany and many countries. The curriculum is German, with a pronounced Greek emphasis, and instruction is bilingual: many subjects are taught in German while others are taught in Greek. At Profil D (grades 5–12) and Profil E (7–12), German instruction remains central, with electives such as Altgriechisch, French, and Informatik to broaden study options and future pathways. The school maintains a Maroussi campus with classrooms, an auditorium, a roofed outdoor pool, and a new athletics arena (opened 2022). DSA offers extracurriculars, including debate and MUN (DSAMUN), a tradition in theatre, and community service and ecological initiatives. Exchange programs with Germany and language and cultural activities support intercultural understanding and higher education.
