Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Pierce began in Smyrna in 1875 and moved to Agia Paraskevi in 1965. In 1973 the college portion became a separate entity (Dere e) while Pierce remained the secondary education division, and in 1979 the American College of Greece was formed by uniting Deree and Pierce. Pierce admits its first male students in 1984, marking full coeducation. The 1990s brought major expansions, including an Olympic-size pool (1993) and other facilities, and in 2008 a new president redefined the college's strategic goals as a center of excellence and social contribution. In 2016 Pierce began offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, and in 2022 it earned accreditation from the Middle States Association and opened the East Campus in Spata for nursery and primary education, approaching the 150th anniversary of its founding.

Community

Pierce hosts a range of community events including Discover Pierce Day 2026 (March 29), Open House 2026 for junior high and high school (March 21), and Discover Pierce IB Day 2026 (March 11). The Pierce Homecoming Reunion 2025 occurred on October 4, and the Christmas Bazaar 2025 took place December 19–20. The campus also marked AC G's 150th anniversary with a ceremony and inauguration of a new president.

Parent-Teacher Association

The Pierce Parents Association emphasizes collaboration between the school and parents. Regular meetings of parents and guardians inform on various topics, with special meetings with the administration, the head, and the teaching staff, a weekly Parents Hour, and other events throughout the year to support a strong school–family–student partnership. The association notes its 150-year heritage and maintains a website at acgparents.gr with contact emails. The Executive Board includes Theodora Kotziamani (President), Aggeliki Rousi-Davilla (Vice President), Eleni Tzoustaki (Secretary), Vagia Ioannidou-Leridi (Treasurer), and several Members, with additional alternates; Pierceprimaryparents@acg.edu serves as a contact point.
