The school emphasizes triliteracy and four languages: Cantonese, English, Mandarin, and Spanish. English is the primary medium of instruction for English, Math, and General Studies, with Chinese Language lessons. In Grades 1-3, Mandarin is used as the medium of instruction, while in Grades 4-6, we transition to Cantonese. Spanish is taught 4 to 6 lessons per week across all grade levels, with fluency expected after six years.
The school offers a Dual Language Program in Primary with a 50/50 split between English and Mandarin across all subjects, including performing arts, physical education, and S.T.E.A.M. In middle school, the program maintains a balanced 50/50 approach with electives offered in both languages; core subjects allocate Chinese Language Arts and English Language Arts separately, while Math and Science are taught in English and Social Studies is taught in Chinese.
Dalton School Hong Kong (DSHK) is a dual-language school on Stubbs Road, Hong Kong Island. The International Program currently spans Primary and Middle School, integrating the Dalton Plan with a 50/50 English–Mandarin model in Primary and continued dual-language learning in Middle School. Notable facilities include a new campus described as being “in the heart of Hong Kong Island” and surrounded by greenery; the school highlights ongoing development of spaces such as a black box theatre, music auditorium, squash courts, music practice rooms, secondary classrooms, and science labs. Signature programs include X-Time, where students choose from offerings like coding, robotics, art, yoga, and clubs, and Xtra Dalton after-school activities featuring pottery, Guzheng, chess, basketball, and Chinese brush painting. Middle School adds Service Learning.
