DSHK was founded in 2017 by the Dalton Foundation as a non-profit, dual-language (English/Putonghua) school. It originally operated at 10 Hoi Fai Road, Kowloon, and in September 2024 moved to a new campus at 41B Stubbs Road on Hong Kong Island. The school’s growth and relocation reflect its strategy to expand its age range and educational offering over time. The board of the Dalton Foundation provides governance and strategic oversight to the school.
DSHK hosts events such as its annual STEAM Fair, which brings together students, families and the wider community to engage in hands-on exhibitions, digital art, robotics and coding activities. The school also runs a “Parent Education” series featuring talks and workshops for parents, fostering community engagement beyond the classroom. These initiatives encourage interaction among families, teachers and staff, and support a sense of belonging among members of the Dalton community.
The school’s “Parent Education” programme is one of the mechanisms through which parents are engaged; for example the “Dalton Speaker Series” invites educators and leaders to speak to parents, and the “Lifelong Learner Series” involves parents in experiencing classroom-style workshops. While the website does not explicitly label a “PTA” by that name with separate committees, these parent-engagement programmes function in a similar way. Parents are encouraged to attend workshops and events, participate in school life, and engage with faculty via these forums. At present, the website does not list distinct parent-teacher committees, monthly PTA meetings or elected parent council representatives.
