The school is a 12-year through-train institution affiliated to Hong Kong Baptist University, located on a 12,000-square-metre campus in Sha Tin beside Shek Mun MTR station. Facilities include a central library, hall, lecture theatre, amphitheatre, skyline gardens, visual arts gallery, dance rooms, multi-purpose rooms, and a Chinese herbal garden. Sports and performance facilities include basketball courts, running tracks, climbing walls, an indoor gymnasium and a performing arts theatre. A student canteen and cafeteria provide food service, and the campus is fully networked with a high-speed data network to support learning.

The Green School Unit promotes environmental awareness and a green lifestyle through regular activities. Activities include the Schools Recycle WEEE programme, Green Week and the Eco Pioneers team, with guest speakers on environmental protection.
HKBUAS, founded in 2006, is a through-train Grades 1–12 school in Shek Mun, Sha Tin, within easy reach of MTR Shek Mun Station (Exit D) and extensive bus/minibus routes. Teaching is mainly in English and Putonghua. Students may pursue the local pathway (HKDSE) or an international route featuring IGCSE and GCE AS/A Levels; the school reports results in Cambridge and Edexcel A Levels. Middle School includes a formal STEAM curriculum and options for a third language—French, German, Japanese, or Spanish—in addition to Chinese and English. Co-curricular life is broad, from debate and Mathematical Olympiad to Scouts, drama, musical, and sports. A signature tradition is the annual Variety Show, showcasing student performance across the arts. School bus services operate on 20+ routes.
